Nuance by Salma Hayek – a special box and general thoughts

I know, I know. A celebrity endorsing and/or creating a beauty product line isn’t the most promising thing in the world. Sometimes I almost feel like a celeb involved in the process automatically makes me suspicious.

Nuance by Salma Hayek is a beauty line created by, you guessed it, Salma Hayek. It debuted in 2011 and is available exclusively at CVS Drugstores.

A long, long time ago, in a land not so far away, Birchbox sent me an email regarding a special box filled with Nuance products. Did I want to opt-in? This wouldn’t replace my regular monthly box, they assured me, but was a “bonus” box. Of course I said yes – I’m not one to turn down bonus anything, much less beauty products.

I had almost forgotten about the email, when out of the blue, my Nuance/Birchbox box arrived, filled with goodies:

Nuance ABMThe shampoo/conditioner were travel sized, as was the AM/PM Cream. Both were generously sized, though. The body cream was full size (yay!) as was the eye trio. And the best part? I LOVED all of the products. After reading up a bit more on the brand and the incredible thought-process that went into it, I was convinced that this was the real deal.

My Nuance Birchbox included a coupon, and I purchased a full-sized shampoo and conditioner with it – the Raw Honey line. I really wish I could find the body and makeup products, but all of the stores in my area seem to only carry the skincare and haircare items.

A few weeks ago, (pre-no-buy month, rest assured!! Day 9 & still kicking on the no-buy front.) I had some ExtraBucks burning a hole in my pocket, the entire Nuance line was on sale, AND I had a special coupon from the in-store kiosk, so I snagged these resurfacing skincare wipes. I’ve used them a few times already and they really seem like they are making my skin more “glow-y” and youthful looking. Will continue to use regularly and report back on the results soon.

Do you have a CVS store near you? Have you tried Nuance, and if so, what did you think about it? Has anyone been able to track down the makeup products in person??
