MOTW: Pink & Gold

Okay, don’t laugh, but I tried something a little unusual (for me at least) this week…

motw half moon
I meant this to be more of a half moon mani, but ended up with more of a half-and-half mani. I actually really like how it ended up though. Gotta figure out what stickers work best – the ones I were using were just office supply stickers for closing envelopes, nothing specifically for nails, and I just didn’t get that rounded half moon shape that I was looking for.

I started with a layer of Pink Pong, from Sally Hansen’s Complete Salon Manicure line. A day later (yes, a day later – I’m so impatient with drying that I knew if I didn’t space this out over two days, I’d ruin the look in five seconds flat), I put on the stickers and painted the top half of my nails with Sienna from Julep. As you can see, it’s a really gorgeous, warm gold with a subtle shimmer.

Because the line between the bottom and top layers wasn’t quite as crisp as I would’ve liked (darn stickers), I took a metallic gold Sharpie (remember this tutorial here?) and drew a line between the two. It ended up slightly jagged because of my lack of steady hands and general nail art skills, but I actually really like the way it all turned out.

Any easy nail art tutorials that I should tackle next? And when I say easy, I do mean easy – obviously, my nail art skills are not quite high level yet.

How about you? What are you wearing on your nails this week?

Bises,
